Puppetry Workshop with Box Tale Soup

Join multi-award-winning British touring theater company Box Tale Soup and discover the magic of puppetry! In this workshop, members of Box Tale Soup will share how they design, build, and bring their unique puppets to life on stage–including their sustainable practice and use of recycled materials, turning waste into art. They’ll explore the creative process from sketches to performance, then share some basic puppetry techniques as you try your hand at making and operating a simple puppet of your own. Whether a complete beginner or a curious theater-lover, you’ll leave with new skills and inspiration.

This workshop is limited to 30 participants. Children aged 12+ may participate but must be accompanied by an adult.

Box Tale Soup is an award-winning theater company whose critically acclaimed productions have delighted thousands of people in the UK and abroad. The name comes from their signature style, packing whole handmade worlds into a vintage trunk with a delicious mix of puppetry, movement, theater, and music. Arts on the Grounds creates intersections of literature and the performing arts.  Events have included modern interpretations of classical theater and site-specific productions designed for the Clark grounds. The program engages a broad new range of audiences and brings the Library’s rich collections to life through performance.
