Laura Clennon accepts the position of Assistant Director

Published: September 1, 2023

Please join us in welcoming Laura Clennon, the Center & Clark’s new Chief Administrative Officer and Assistant Director. Laura has worked at UCLA in various capacities for the past 17 years and is eager to immerse herself in all things Center & Clark.  Laura began her academic career as a Ph.D. candidate in Comparative Literature at UC Irvine, focused on 19th-century travel writing.  After completing her Master’s degree, she took a job at UCLA as the Chairs’ Assistant to French, Italian, German, and Scandinavian Languages (now known as the Department of European Languages & Transcultural Studies), supporting all four chairs from 2006 to 2011. With her sights set on advancement within UCLA, she became the Fund Manager at the Dodd Group until 2015, when she was offered the MSO position for the Philosophy Department.  By 2019, Laura had strategically worked her way back to English, where her research interests began, as the CAO for the Department.  Laura is the mother of two lovely children, a daughter, age 13, and son, age 10. They are Laura and her husband’s pride and joy. In her spare time, she enjoys yoga, hiking, camping, and playing with their family dog, Pearl. All of us at the Center and Clark are thrilled to have found such an accomplished and delightful person to serve as our CAO.
